I’m on a bit of a roll with the ponchos! Here’s a variation on the purple poncho featured previously, but with super soft yarn that I already had to hand. It feels so snuggly and cosy. The pompoms around the bottom edge were something I’ve been wanting to try out for ages.
The pattern I used was this one from my etsy shop MoebiusJo.
You will need to add a few stitches to the length, as this yarn works up smaller than the chunky, purple yarn. I used a 9mm hook.

The main body uses two yarns crocheted together, Wendy Fleur DK in shade 3357 (blue) and Wendy Frizzante in shade 853 (pink/purple). Combining the yarns like this has produced a lovely rich color blend. Wendy yarns have sadly been discontinued. To find further substitute yarns I recommend the following guides: yarnsub.com (very simple to use); www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/c/article/how-to-figure-out-yarn-substitutions (a very useful overview article). I must’ve had the Wendy Frizzante for a while, as it doesn’t appear to be on yarnsub.com. However, you can often get hold of discontinued yarns on ebay.
The pompom edges are made just with a single yarn, the Wendy Fleur DK. Here’s how to make the pompom edging. Please excuse the traffic sounds in the background; I was sitting in my front garden on a normally quiet street.
If you prefer to follow written instructions, here they are.
